Sad news was received over the weekend on the passing of former IUP baseball coach Jeff Ditch.
Ditch had coached at six different college programs, including 11 years at IUP where his teams won 253 games and became the all-time winningest baseball coach. At IUP, he helped 55 athletes earn PSAC post-season honors. In the classroom, 299 athletes earned Dean List honors. On the diamond, his 2008 team set a school record with 36 wins, while his 2010 team advanced to the PSAC Championship game.
Upon leaving IUP, Ditch returned to his native state of North Dakota where he was the hitting coach for two years at North Dakota State before entering the business world last year.
Jeff Dich was just 53 years old.
