The YMCA of Indiana County has announced that they are also shutting down for two weeks amid concerns over Covid-19.
The shutdown started at the end of business on Friday, and will remain in place until March 29th. According to a statement from the Y sent to its members, the decision was made in light of suggestion that people stay away from places like gyms and movie theaters, and practice social distancing for the next two weeks.
During the downtime, the Y will address some concerns, including:
- A thorough cleaning of the facility and the equipment.
- Addressing minor technical issues throughout the facilities that would have normally waited until their annual late-summer shutdown.
- Supporting other community organizations as they make sure children in the community still have access to lunch and snacks that they would be normally given during school.
- Evaluate additional opportunities to improve the YMCA and their cleanliness during this time.
