Fire heavily damaged two homes in Rossiter, in northern Indiana County yesterday afternoon. It was first reported at 12:41 PM and fire crews had to return to the scene again last evening for a rekindle, and another rekindle at 3:30 this morning.
Six fire companies responded to Upper Clinton Street in Rossiter, five of them from Jefferson County and the Glen Campbell fire company from Indiana County, with Marion Center on standby. They arrived to find a home fully involved and a neighboring home also in flames. The first home was already too far gone for firefighters to go inside, so as they poured water on it, they worked on saving the second house, but it still sustained heavy damage inside and out.
No one was home at the first house, and the second house was unoccupied and was being remodeled.
No firefighters were injured.
