At a news conference this morning, Indiana Borough Police said that four individuals were apprehended in connection with a robbery and shooting at neighboring houses on Wayne Avenue in mid-February.
Police Chief Justin Schawl said that 19-year-old Daron Reel, 23-year-old Nafis Miles-Harper, and 20-year-olds Mamadi Saccoh and Samuel Wilson, all from Philadelphia, were charged in connection with the shooting and robbery on February 14th. Reel, Harper and Saccoh were identified as IUP students. Reel was identified by police as the shooter at 841 Wayne Avenue, with Miles-Harper and Wilson accompanying him at 835 and 841 Wayne Avenue, and Saccoh was the lookout. Schawl said that the three men robbed 835 Wayne Avenue accidentally before moving on to their real target.
Schawl added that subsequent investigation showed the robbery was marijuana-related.
All four suspects were arraigned in front of District Judge Guy Haberl.
Miles-Harper, Saccoh and Wilson were charged with robbery, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, conspiracy to those three crimes, and conspiracy to aggravated assault, and are in Indiana County Jail in lieu of $150,000 cash bail. Reel faces all those charges along with criminal attempted homicide and aggravated assault. He is in county jail in lieu of $300,000 cash bail.
Preliminary hearings are set for March 12th.
