The average cost of a gallon of gas went down in Indiana County and across the state.
According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of gas in Pennsylvania is $2.63 a gallon, which is down four cents from last week at this time, but some experts are saying that the drop may not last long. For now, total domestic gasoline supplies remain high at 256.4 million barrels, and that is pushing gas prices down. Refinery maintenance is getting underway, so that could put some pressure on regional refinery utilization, supplies and gas prices in the early part of this month.
As far as Indiana County goes, the average cost of a gallon of gas is now at $2.67 a gallon. In Indiana Borough and White Township, gas prices are currently close to the county-wide average, with some stations reporting $2.68 a gallon and others at $2.69 a gallon. In the Homer City area, gas prices at the Sheetz as of this morning is $2.87 a gallon, while Kwik Fill is reporting that prices are at $2.63 a gallon. In Blairsville, gas prices range from $2.57 to $2.59 a gallon. And in Clymer, gas prices are at $2.69 a gallon.
AAA reports that among the neighboring counties, Westmoreland’s Average is the lowest at $2.59 a gallon, while Armstrong has an average of $2.62. Clearfield’s average is $2.67 a gallon and both Jefferson and Cambria Counties have averages of $2.68 a gallon.
