The state Department of Corrections is continuing to work to keep drugs out of state prisons.
Corrections Secretary John Wetzel says steps taken following a spate of inmate and prison staff illnesses linked to synthetic marijuana being smuggled into prisons through the mail in 2018 have made a positive difference. Wetzel says the department is working to have legal mail emailed to inmates to put an end to that path for drugs and other contraband getting into state prisons.
