State Representative Jim Struzzi has announced that $165,000 in school safety funding is going to local school districts.
Struzzi announced on Wednesday that the money is coming from the School Safety and Security Committee and the money is to be used towards efforts to make schools safer. The grants for Indiana County are part of over $53.7 Million in grant funding to school districts and entities throughout the state.
The school districts in Struzzi’s state house district that will receive grant funding include:
- Indiana Area School District, who will receive $40,000
- Blairsville-Saltsburg School District, who will receive $35,000
- Homer-Center, Penns Manor and United School districts will receive $30,000 each.
The money can be used for school security purposes, such as hiring school resource or police officers, purchasing security equipment, conducting safety assessments, and hiring counselors and psychologists.
