A Marion Center woman was killed Wednesday afternoon on Route 119 in neighboring Jefferson County, while two others suffered serious injuries.
State police say the crash happened at 2:25 PM as a truck driven by 93-year-old Clyde McKee of Punxsutawney was on a straight stretch of Route 119 just north of Wachob Road when McKee lost control and went into the southbound lane and onto the west berm. As the truck made its way back on the road, a car driven by 80-year-old James McAfee of Marion Center was going South. McAfee tried to avoid a collision, but the two vehicles hit nearly head-on. The truck rolled onto its side in the middle of the road, while the car stopped facing south on the east berm.
81-year-old Mildred McAfee, a passenger in the car, was killed in the crash. The two drivers were taken to UPMC Altoona by life-flight helicopter for treatment. The crash investigation is ongoing.
