There are several motions hearings scheduled today before Judge Thomas Bianco in Indiana County Court, including hearings in the three cases against 19-year-old Dylan Dalessio, a former firefighter accused in connection with arson fires in Washington Township in December of 2018 and on in January of last year in North Mahoning Township.
One fire destroyed a barn along Route 954 near Creekside; the second fire along Bailey Road in Washington Township destroyed a garage and a shed; the third fire leveled an Amish furniture store along Stephenson Road in North Mahoning Township.
Dalessio and 23-year-old Nicholas Leone, who was also a volunteer firefighter, are both charged in those three fires, but police have not charged anyone for six other fires that occurred over a period of four months in late 2018 and early 2019.
Dalessio’s attorney, Alexander Jamiolkowski of Pittsburgh, has filed omnibus pretrial motions to challenge evidence, and two weeks ago he filed a notice of alibi in the furniture store fire. At a preliminary hearing last October, he moved for dismissal based on a lack of credible evidence, but the charges were allowed to stand.
Other motions hearings are scheduled today for:
- Nathan Cole Abrams of Cherry Tree, in a felony drug case in which he’s charged with possession with intent to deliver and related offenses.
- Brian Keith Eiselman of Homer City, in a misdemeanor drug possession case.
The hearings are all scheduled to begin at 8:30 this morning.
