On this Ash Wednesday, a church in Creekside will hold their first services there since fire destroyed the church last year.
Firefighters were fighting the fire at the Harmony Grove Lutheran Church last year at this time. The church would be destroyed by the fire, and officials ruled the fire an arson. The person responsible for setting the fire to this day is not known. Today, services will be held at the rebuilt church for the first time, with Ash Wednesday services being held tonight at 7:00.
Ernie Fisher of Harmony Grove said that the first Sunday service will be this Sunday at 9:00 AM, but after that, there will be a special open house.
The fact that the first service at Harmony Grove will be on Ash Wednesday was not lost on Mary Lou Rolls.
The church is planning an official dedication ceremony later this year, when the weather turns warmer.
