A Rayne Township woman is facing charges after police say she assaulted a state trooper who was assisting Citizens Ambulance personnel on Saturday evening.
Police were dispatched to an address on Washington Church Road, where they say 56-year-old Carmen Tyger of Home was being treated for medical issues. After a determination that she needed to be transported to the hospital, police say she began to flail her arms about in an attempt to break free from the stretcher. As troopers tried to get her under control, she leaned to her right and kicked a trooper in his upper right thigh and lower leg, breaking the skin on his shin. She was then handcuffed and taken to IRMC for evaluation.
Police say charges have been filed, but they do not yet show up on a criminal docket sheet.
