State Representative Chris Dush, whose 66th District represents a substantial portion of northern Indiana County, has announced that he will seek the 25th District Senate seat of retiring Senate Majority Leader Joe Scarnati. Dush is not seeking re-election to the House, honoring a commitment he made to serve only three terms.
After Scarnati’s recent decision to step down, Dush hastily gathered 2,600 signatures on a nominating petition for inclusion on the Republican Spring Primary ballot. Candidates are required to get at least 500 signatures.
The state’s Department of State election website lists Dush, Jim Brown of Punxsutawney, and John Herm Suplizio of DuBois on the Republican side and Margie Brown of Saint Marys on the Democratic Primary ballot.
