John “Jack” Joseph Soltis, Jr., 79, of Punxsutawney, PA and formerly of Hooverhurst, PA, died on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at his home in Punxsutawney, PA.
The son of John and Anna (Miscencik) Soltis, he was born on September 24, 1940 in Punxsutawney, PA.
Earning the rank of PFC, Jack was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves,
He was a lifelong member of The Church of The Resurrection parish and loyally attended mass at the Glen Campbell, PA site. His faith was very important to him.
Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a maintenance worker.
Jack was an avid gardener and found great pleasure spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. In the past, he had also enjoyed going on cruises with his late wife Charlene.
He is survived by his three daughters: Katherine Williams and husband, Bryan of Greensburg, PA; Melissa Morrow of Blairsville, PA; Jodi Blatt and husband, Michael Brothers of Cherry Tree, PA; his eight grandchildren: Jason and Jonathan Johnson; Natalie Moran; Bradley, Corey and Kaitlynn Pearce and Michaela and Abby Brothers; his four great-granddaughters and four great-grandsons.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Charlene (Crossland) Blatt Soltis in 2003; his two daughters: Lori Blatt and Cheryl Blatt and his grandson, Steven Blatt.
Family and friends will be received from Noon to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA, where following the visitation a 2:00 p.m. funeral service will be held at the funeral home Saturday afternoon with Fr. James Morley officiating. Interment will be held at the Burnside Cemetery at a later date.
