State police are investigating a case of identity theft that happened earlier this month. Police say they were notified on February 1st that an unknown person opened a checking account at the Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union in the name of a 48-year-old Robinson man. The scammer tried to send check requests to be paid but those requests were denied. PSECU closed the account once they detected fraudulent activity. Police have no suspect at this time.
Few details are available on a case of theft by deception in Center Township. State police say that a 56-year-old Center Township woman was scammed out of $1000 online. No word on what the scammer said or did to scam the victim. This happened on February 10th.
