Gas prices continue to go down across the state and in Indiana County as well.
According to Triple A, the average cost of a gallon of gas across Pennsylvania is now at $2.68 a gallon, a six cent decrease from where it was a week ago, and eleven cents down from where it was a month ago. Last year at this time, gas prices were lower than they were now, as gas prices on average was $2.47 a gallon.
Indiana County’s average is currently $2.67 a gallon. In Indiana Borough and White Township, that average is the current cost per gallon for most gas stations in the area. In Homer City and Blairsville, gas prices are slightly lower at $2.65 a gallon. Prices are cheaper in Clymer at $2.59 a gallon.
The nation-wide average is now $2.51 a gallon, three cents cheaper than last week, and four cents cheaper than last month. Triple-A reports that gas prices have gone down as the gasoline stocks increased to 260 million barrels, the highest stock level ever recorded by the Energy Information Administration since they started keeping such statistics in 1990. Triple-A also says that the lower demand for gasoline during this time of year also contributed to the downward slide in gas prices.
