The newest Pennsylvania Flu Report by the Department of Health shows Indiana County’s laboratory-confirmed flu cases at 359 for the season. That’s an increase of 56 over the previous week, and represents a very slight decrease in the weekly rate of new flu cases.
Flu is on the rise in Jefferson County, where the number of cases rose by 58, bringing the total so far this season has risen to 303. Cambria County is now at 1,057, up 82 from the week before; Clearfield County had 76 new confirmed flu cases, increasing their season total to 386; Armstrong added 70 new cases and is at 297; and Westmoreland County rose from 1,814 cases to 2,019.
In Indiana County, 257 of the 259 cases have been Type B flu, and the other 102 were Type A.
Across the commonwealth, there were nine flu-related deaths in the past week, bringing the total for the season to 33.
