The Indiana County Commissioners today approved a grant that will help the Jimmy Stewart Airport with a master plan study.
The federal grant will help the airport complete the study. The airport has not reviewed the master plan in over 20 years. Airport manager Rick Fuellner said the Master Plan Study will give them the plan on how the airport will expand over the next 10 to 20 years. Fuellner said it will cover everything at the airport.
In other business, the commissioners approved a cooperation agreement with the Blairsville Community Development Authority for the demolition of the former G.C. Murphy building. The agreement details the responsibilities between the county and the BCDA for the demolition, clearing and re-use of the site. The lot will be cleared out and be turned into a community green space.
Finally, the Commissioners officially proclaimed the month of February as Black History Month in Indiana County.
