At last night’s White Township Supervisors Meeting, supervisors approved the general contracting bid for the upcoming S&T Bank Arena renovation project.
While other portions of the contract were approved at a prior meeting, the general contracting portion was put out for bid once again as it put the project way over budget. After four companies submitted new bids, the township approved going with Fred L. Burns, Inc. of Shippenville with a low bid of $560,650. Township manager Milt Lady said that this will include a change in the project concerning the roof.
Even with the changes, the project is still $126,517 over budget. That will be made up from the fund balance, and will be repaid by the recreation department.
In other business, a priority list for the next round of DCNR grant applications was approved. The top of that priority list is the playground at the White Township Rec Complex, which is beginning to show its age and become a safety factor.
The supervisors also accepted with regret the resignation of William Lauber from the Municipal Authority Board. The supervisors will honor him by getting a plaque to recognize his near 30 years of service to the board.
