The Blairsville-Saltsburg School Board met last night to vote on hiring a former superintendent from a neighboring school district as a facilitator in the discussion for possible reconfiguration of the district.
The meeting itself lasted for 12 minutes and during that meeting, the board approved hiring former Homer-Center superintendent Dr. Charles Koren as the facilitator regarding the reconfiguration deliberations. Board President Rick Harper said that Koren will act as an independent party.
Harper also added that Koren does have a lot of experience in education.
The motion passed by a 7-2 vote, with Linda Brown and Beverly Carnese voting no on the issue, saying that they never got the chance to meet Dr. Koren.
Video from last night’s meeting is available on our Facebook page.
The board also approved an observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. day on January 20th. On that day, all district offices will be closed.
