The State House returns to session in Harrisburg today with a number of committee meetings on the agenda and consideration of bills that would repeal out-of-date laws.
Coming up tomorrow, the House State Government Committee will take up Representative Jim Struzzi’s bill to reform the standards used for the Small and Disadvantaged Business Program. Struzzi introduced that bill in September to reform the employee limits for access to special considerations including alternative bonding and progress payments, rather than adhering to a strict 100-employee limit.
On Indiana In the Morning on WCCS, Struzzi recently outlined some of the actions he’d like to see in Harrisburg in the first half of the new year. He said he expects property tax reform to move forward, and of course, the state budget will be a major focus.
He would also like to start a review process of the state children and youth services, which he says has some systemic issues that cause problems for children across the commonwealth.
Struzzi says he would like to see Governor Wolf sign legislation to help firefighters and emergency services agencies, and he will be advocating for his “Cody’s Law” legislation. Also, he says he will be introducing a resolution calling for Pennsylvania to establish a “Jimmy Stewart Day”, and to recognize the Jimmy Stewart Museum.
