Richard “Dick” E. Wilhelm, 84, of Purchase Line, PA passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at the AristaCare @ Hillsdale Park in Hillsdale, PA.
The son of the late Elmer E. and Nellie F. (Gumbert) Wilhelm, he was born on January 21, 1935 in Barr Slope, PA.
Dick was a 1953 graduate of Green Township High School. He went on to serve in the US Army during the Korean War.
On June 30, 1956, he married Dolores J. (Brown) Wilhelm and they have shared over sixty-three years of marriage.
Dick’s career as a welder encompassed thirty years with the William B. Pollock Company in Youngstown, OH and then ten years with the Ivor J. Lee Company in Masury, PA.
He was a member of the East Mahoning Baptist Church in Purchase Line, PA. Dick greatly enjoyed singing with his church at the local nursing homes, as well as attending area Gospel sings and prayer meetings.
Dick was a man who appreciated and delighted in fellowshipping and conversing with his family and friends. He and his wife, Dolores, would actively travel to homes of family and friends to share time visiting and enjoying the simple gift of spending time with one another.
He liked hunting and was a member of the Two Lick Valley Rod and Gun Club.
Dick was also an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores and son, Rich Wilhelm, both of Purchase Line, PA; his daughter, Debbie Jones and husband Howard of Palmetto, FL and his two grandsons: Kyle Wilhelm and wife Shirl and their children, Brittany; Haleigh and Alton and David Wilhelm and wife Dana and their children: Eli and Oakley, as well as four additional grandsons; twelve great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
Also surviving are his five siblings: Eleanor Weaver; Donna Buterbaugh; Bob Wilhelm and wife Marsha; Linda Kirkland and Karen Matty and husband Denny and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Loving wife Dolores, son Rich and daughter Debbie invite loved ones to celebrate Richard’s life with them at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA for viewing on Friday, January 10, 2020 from 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. An 11:30 a.m. funeral service will immediately follow the Saturday morning visitation at the funeral home. Pastor Scott Sauers will officiate. Military Honors will be observed at the funeral home by the Clymer American Legion Post #222. Interment will be at the East Mahoning Cemetery in Purchase Line, PA.
