The Heritage Conference released its 2020 football schedule on Tuesday, highlighted by a new opponent.
In November of 2019, Bishop Carroll and the Heritage Conference announced a two-year agreement that will schedule the nine Heritage Conference football teams against the Huskies during the 2020 and 2021 football seasons.
The agreement fills voids in the Heritage Conference football schedule created when Ligonier Valley elected to leave the Heritage Conference and District 6 to join District 7.
Class 2A Bishop Carroll (3-7 last season), which plays its home games in Ebensburg, did not seek membership to the Heritage and it will remain an independent football program. The school’s other athletic programs will continue to compete in the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference.
Some highlights of the 2020 schedule include Bishop Carroll’s debut on Aug. 28, playing host to Homer-Center; rivalry clashes between Penns Manor and Purchase and intra-district schools Saltsburg and Blairsville on Sept. 25; and Homer-Center traveling to Blairsville for a second straight year on Oct. 23.
All kickoffs are at 7 p.m. The schedule is subject to change.
