IUP Athletics yesterday released its All-Decade Team, consisting of ten men and ten women. The twenty former student-athletes combined for 54 All-American selections, four individual national titles, 25 team and individual national championship event appearances, 45 regional selections and awards, and 90 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference postseason honors or individual titles.
Men’s basketball and men’s indoor/outdoor track & field had the most selections with three each. Women’s basketball, football and women’s swimming each had two selections.

Carolyn Appleby, Women’s Basketball
2015-19 … All-American as a senior … Leader of team that had two best seasons in program history – back-to-back 30-win seasons, Atlantic Region titles and national semifinal appearances … Helped IUP to two PSAC tournament titles (2017, 2019) … Two-time first team All-PSAC West … Two-time PSAC Tournament MVP … 2018 NCAA Atlantic Region Tournament MVP … Second in program history with 1,723 points, fourth with 406 assists.
Devante Chance, Men’s Basketball

BASEBALL/SOFTBALL
The IUP Athletic Department announced field renovations for its baseball and softball programs at Owen J. Dougherty and Ruth Podbielski Fields.
Both fields will be upgraded with brand new synthetic turf infields, including pitching mounds, backstops and foul territories. The outfields will remain natural grass while Podbielski Field will have a turf warning track. Also included at both fields will be new home and away turf bullpens behind each dugout.
The installation project began the week of December 9, with completion expected in March.
