The Steelers ended their season with a 28-10 whipping at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens yesterday, making it three straight losses to finish at 8-and-8 for the year.
The Ravens ran all over the Steelers’ defense, rushing for 223 yards, and Pittsburgh gave up the ball on a second-quarter sack, leading to a Ravens touchdown. The Steelers also gave up a safety on an intentional grounding penalty from the end zone, and a touchdown when punter Jordan Berry fumbled a snap that Baltimore recovered in the end zone.
The Steelers managed only 168 yards of total offense and Duck Hodges threw for only 95 yards, connecting on only 9 of 25 throws.
Pittsburgh needed to win and hope for Tennessee to lose to Houston in order to secure the sixth playoff spot in the AFC. Tennessee won, so the Steelers were out of the postseason, win or lose.

The top two seeds in each conference each get a first-round bye. In the AFC, that’s Baltimore and Kansas City, which jumped over New England for the second seed when the Patriots lost to the Dolphins. In the NFC, San Francisco is the top seed and Green Bay is second.
