The latest Pennsylvania flu report shows a tremendous increase in confirmed cases in the last week across the commonwealth, and Indiana County’s numbers are rising, too.
There were 11,140 flu cases across the state, compared to 6,398 the week before. The numbers are the total for the entire flu season, which began with the week ending on October 5th.
Indiana County’s total number of flu cases for the season rose by 41, from 18 to 59. Fifty of those cases are Type B flu, and the other nine are Type A.
Our neighboring counties are also suffering…Armstrong has had 74 flu cases since October; Cambria has had 475; and Westmoreland County has had 692 cases. By contrast, Clearfield has had 35 flu cases this season and Jefferson has had 23.
Seventy-eight percent of the flu cases in Pennsylvania have been Type B. There were no deaths reported last week. There have been seven so far this season.
