At last night’s meeting, Clymer Borough Council approved a 2020 budget and hired an assistant to the borough manager.
The Clymer Borough spending plan will utilize $537,000 in expenditures. A liquid fuel tax transferred to the general fund will make up the balance with no tax increase for residents.
The new assistant to the borough manager hired last night is Clymer resident Clifford Ruffalo. Current borough manager Rob Barto will retire next year.
Garbage rates will increase by $1 a month, which marks the first rate increase since 2006. Clymer Borough fees to Waste Management will increase by $7000 in 2020.
Mayor Christina King and Police Chief Lou Sacco announced that cross parking and yellow curb ticketing will be enforced starting January 1st of 2020. Sacco also reported police worked five hours for DUI enforcement and also conducted traffic safety patrols in the morning for school buses and vehicles. Spending for police staffing will increase by $33,700.
In other business, the Clymer Fire department announced that Christmas Caroling will be held on December 17th from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.
The next regular meeting of Clymer Borough will be January 14th, 2020 at 7:00 PM.
