Governor Tom Wolf has ordered that Pennsylvania Flags are to fly at half-staff in honor of what has been called “the day of infamy”.
For today, Pennsylvania flags along with US Flags will fly at half-staff in honor of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. On this day in 1941, the United States Pearl Harbor Naval Base in Honolulu, Hawaii was attacked by Japanese Navy Air Service. The attack happened at 7:46 AM Hawaiian Time as 353 Imperial Japanese Aircraft attacked the base. Four U.S. Battleships were sunk, with four others damaged and 188 U.S. Aircraft were destroyed. 2403 Americans were killed and another 1,178 were wounded. The attack would bring the United States into World War II.
The flags will fly at half-staff throughout the day until sunset.
