State Police say 36-year-old David Paul Dilts of Penn Run stole a 2016 Nissan pickup truck from a home in Conemaugh Township by breaking into the home and finding the keys. He then went to the home of a woman on Short Lane in Young Township and stole her .22 caliber rifle. The victim came home and found him in the act of taking the gun and he assaulted her. He then went to a home on Iselin road and tried to hold up people inside the home, but he was threatened by a man at the house who was pointing a gun at him. Dilts then fled north, crashing the truck near the intersection of Gamble Road and Germany Lutheran Cemetery Road in West Wheatfield Township. He then went to a home on Roy Boring Road and tried to hold up a man for the keys to another vehicle, but the man disarmed Dilts and threw him to the ground. He got away on foot, leaving the rifle behind.
State Police have charged Dilts with thirteen felony offenses, including five counts of burglary, two of them involving bodily injury to a victim. There are also three felony counts of theft, two counts each of attempted robbery and attempted reception of stolen property, and a single felony count of criminal trespass. There are also thirteen misdemeanor counts, including simple assault, reckless endangerment, attempted terroristic threats and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
