State police have released the statistics for the Thanksgiving travel period.
State Police Troop A, which covers most of Indiana County, along with Cambria and Somerset and portions of Westmoreland County, made 841 traffic stops during the five-day travel period from last Wednesday through Sunday and handed out 771 traffic citations, with 560 of them speeding tickets. Troopers also handed out 18 seat belt citations, 9 “steer clear” law citations, and one child safety seat citation.
Police also arrested 10 people for driving under the influence, made 17 self-initiated criminal arrests, and helped seven motorists. Troopers also investigated a total of 11 crashes over the weekend, with three people were injured. Only one crash was alcohol-related and there were no drug-related crashes.
