Many different organizations are being helped today thanks to the efforts of Bill Otto, The Oldies Attic and it’s listeners.
The final numbers for the Turkeython three-hour fundraiser from last Saturday came to a grand total of $53,521, significantly higher than last year’s total of $45,000. Listeners called in on Saturday from 9-noon during Bill Otto’s Oldies Attic to pledge money to the United Way of Indiana County, which will go to help fifteen member agencies as part of the annual fundraising campaign.
That money was matched by grocers from across Indiana County in turkeys and food cards that will go to Veterans charities, the Salvation Army, the Homer City Food Bank, the Community Kitchen of Dixonville, the Chevy Chase Community Center and other organizations to help put a warm meal on the table for those who might not get one this Thanksgiving holiday.
This year marked the 30th year of the Turkeython.
