State police say a Northern Cambria man is facing charges of endangering the welfare of children, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, and driving under the influence after a pursuit through Indiana Borough and White Township on Friday afternoon.
Police say a trooper attempted to pull over 27-year-old Jerry Robert Pierce III at South 7th and Maple Streets for “multiple vehicle code violations”, but Pierce took off, finally giving up and stopping in White Township. He was driving under a suspended license, and troopers suspected that he was driving under the influence of marijuana and he was subsequently taken to the Indiana Regional Medical Center, where he consented to a blood draw.
Riding with Pierce were a 24-year-old woman and two children, ages three and three months. No one was injured. Pierce was taken to the Indiana County Jail and later arraigned before District Judge Chris Welch, who set bond at $5,000 and scheduled a preliminary hearing for December 2nd.
