Those venturing out today are reminded to be careful with the first snowfall of the season hitting the area last night.
The PA American Water Company’s Two Lick Filter Plant said that their weather station recorded one and a half inches of snow between 7 am yesterday and 6 am today. Road crews were out yesterday making sure that roads are cleared and/or salted. More snow is expected today, but it will be between a half inch and an inch of snow. But even with a small amount of snowfall coming through the area, road conditions could be slick with black ice, snow and ice.
Triple-A East Central is offering up some driving tips to help people remain safe on the roads. They include not tailgating and extend following distances, adjust the speed for the road conditions, don’t slam on the brakes, use cautions on bridges and overpasses and do not use cruise control on slippery roads.
They also recommend preparing your car for winter by having the battery tested, replacing worn windshield wipers, inspect your tires and upgrade your emergency kit for winter conditions by including a blanket, sand or cat litter, small shovel, gloves and other items.
