Today is Veterans Day, where people take time to honor those who served our country in the armed forces.
As today is a federal holiday, there will be some closures in effect. Federal, state and local government offices and courts are closed for the day. This includes PennDOT Driver’s License Centers. State Liquor stores that are normally open on a Monday will be open today. Post offices are closed today and there will be no regular mail delivery. Many banks will be closed today as well.
Bus service for IndiGo will be altered a bit for today. There will be no bus service on Philadelphia Street from 10:15 to Noon today. This is due to the parade going on in Downtown Indiana.
The Indiana Veterans Day parade will start at 10:30 and will head from 5th Street up to the courthouse, and disperse at 9th and Philadelphia Street. The parade will pause at 11:00 to pay tribute to veterans who have passed.
Blairsville will also have a parade today, starting at 10 AM at the east end of Market Street near the Football Field, and going down to the West End, ending at Veteran’s Memorial park. A brief ceremony will follow the parade, with Jim Meighan as the keynote speaker.
