Dates have been announced for when the faculty at IUP and the 13 other state-owned universities will vote to ratify the tentative faculty contract.
The call for the vote came yesterday during a special legislative assembly conference of APSCUF, the union representing faculty who work for PASSHE schools, and from November 11th to 13th, faculty members will vote on ratifying the contract. If a majority of APSCUF members vote in favor of the contract, it will go back to the State System Board of Governors for final approval.
The last faculty contract expired on June 30th and they have been working under the provisions of the prior agreement since that time. For this contract negotiation, both sides adopted an “interest-based bargaining” system. The system has been described as a collaborative effort instead of exchanging contract proposals back and forth between the two sides. Both sides have been in negotiations since last May.
No details have been released on the new contract, but the details are expected to be released once the contract is ratified by both APSCUF and the Board of Governors.
