One person was charged with drug-related crimes and three others could face charges after an investigation at a White Township home yesterday.
State police say they were called out at 10:45 AM on Thursday to 725 South 5th Street for a reported theft, but when they got there, troopers smelled both raw and burnt marijuana. All four tenants of the home consented to a search and police discovered about 460 grams of suspected marijuana in three glass jars. The suspected marijuana was packaged in increments and stored with a digital scale in a duffel bag on the floor. Other items seized included a grinder and a smoking device.
The items were found in the bedroom of 22-year-old Matthew Baird of Lancaster, and he was taken into custody and charged with felony possession with intent to deliver and misdemeanor charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana and of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned in front of District Judge Guy Haberl and released on his own recognizance. He is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on November 20th at 2:00 PM.
The other three individuals, identified as a 19-year-old Monroeville man, a 20-year-old man from Warminster in Bucks County, and a 23-year-old man from Hackettstown, New Jersey, have not yet been charged but they face misdemeanor charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana and of drug paraphernalia.
