Robert L. Rethi, Jr., age 73 of Kent, died Sunday, October 27, 2019 at the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, surrounded by his family.
He was born in 1946 in Cleveland, OH to Robert L. Rethi, Sr. and Sue Yhnasko Rethi.
He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Kent; IBEW Local #5, Pittsburgh; VFW Post #1989, Indiana and the NECA.
He was employed as an electrician for Local #5 and worked at various locations performing different duties.
Bob was an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing with brother Joe. His laughter was larger than life. His personality blessed him with an abundance of friends from all walks of life. He also enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing and spending time with all of his family.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Debra Rankin Rethi, Kent; two sons – Scott (Marni) Rankin, Pittsburgh; Eric (Catherine) Rethi, Lawrenceville, GA; three daughters, Robyn (Richard) Heller, Cape Coral, FL; Deanne Jennings, Mrytle Beach, SC; Tammi Jones, Indiana; 10 grandchildren – Lauren, Haley, Devon, Anthony and TJ Jennings, Anthony Heller, Zachary and Autumn Jones, Marlene Rankin, Gabriel Rethi, and one great grandson. He is also survived by one brother and one sister – Joseph (Donna) Rethi, Indiana; Susan (JJ) Maudie, Blairsville; many nieces and nephews he loved very dearly.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, a special uncle John Yhnasko, and his mother-in-law Clara Rankin.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 8 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at Church of the Good Shepherd, Kent, with the Rev. Fr. Matthew Morelli, the celebrant. Private interment will be made in Greenwood Cemetery.
