This morning on WCCS AM 1160 and 101.1 FM, two debates were held concerning two positions of county government that are on the ballot for next week’s election.
The first debate concerned the two candidates for the District Attorney’s Position, with topics ranging from plea bargains to availability. Another topic that was a hot topic between the candidates was the influx of drug-related activity. Incumbent candidate Pat Dougherty talked about what needs to be done.
While challenger Bob Manzi said he wants to hold drug dealers responsible when they are caught selling drugs, and expand some of the services of the office.
The other debate concerned four of the five candidates on the ballot for Indiana County Commissioner. One of the hot topics discussed concerned the Pedestrian Bridge issue in Burrell Township. Candidate Mike Keith said that he felt the project had its pros and cons.
Donald Lancaster said he wants to see it happen for the economic opportunities that it will present.
Robin Gorman said that projects like that one should be divided up between needs and wants, and she also wants to check on the return on investment.
And incumbent candidate Sherene Hess said that the project does have a return on investment.
