Indiana Borough Police are warning people that another phone scam is making its way through the area.
Police say that a borough resident, who was not identified, notified them and gave them details on the scam. The victim told them that the caller purported to be various local, state and federal authorities investigating her social security number that was allegedly tied to illegal activities and they asked her for various pieces of personal information and credit card and bank account numbers as well. Several phone numbers were involved over the course of the scam.
Indiana borough police remind everyone not to give out personal information to anyone that calls out of the blue. If you do receive a call from a phone number that appears to be legitimate, but you are unsure, hang up and call the agency to verify the call.
