Edith Irene (Coleman) Fairman, age 91 of Indiana, died Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at Crystal Waters Personal Care Home, Home, PA.
She was born in 1928 in Frostburg, Jefferson County, PA, to Mary Pearl Coleman. Edith was raised by her mother and step-father Franklin Clyde Stahlman.
Edith was of the Presbyterian faith.
She was a partner with her husband of Fairman’s Service Station for eleven years. Edith also sold Avon and did bookkeeping. Formerly, she was a member of Kettering Homemakers. She loved her family unconditionally and was proud of each and every one of them. She was fond of gardening and loved flowers. Edith enjoyed crossword puzzles and Jeopardy, and her family knew never to call her at 7 p.m.
Edith was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and aunt.
She is survived by the following children – Margaret Lee Kunkle and companion Howard Kunkle; Vivian Jean Pennington and husband Harry; Kenneth Carlisle and wife Betty Louise Smeltzer Potts Fairman, all of Creekside; and Barbara Irene Hood and husband Gary, Marion Center; 11 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 13 step great grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren; step-brothers – John Stahlman; Floyd E. Stahlman and wife Marylee; Samuel Stahlman wife Babette; Jerry Stahlman; Robert Stahlman; step-sister – Genevieve Wensel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Edith was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, her husband Bryson Gene Fairman who died in 2008, a son Bryson Duane Fairman in 2007, infant daughter Phyllis in 1955, son-in-law Lawrence W. Kunkle in 1984, and step grandsons Eric M. Pennington in 1991 and Bruce T. Potts in 2018 and step-sister Viola Isenberg.
Friends will be received on Monday, October 28, from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 29th at 11 a.m. with the Pastor Chris Enoch officiating. Interment will be made in the Atwood Cemetery.
