James Thiel Jones, 91, of Indiana, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019, at Indiana Regional Medical Center.
A son of the late William and Lotus Bush Jones, he was born Dec. 18, 1927, in Stump Creek, Jefferson County.
Mr. Jones was a 1946 graduate of Indiana High School and received an associate applied degree in publishing and printing from Rochester Institute of Technology. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Jones, along with his wife, were the longest active members at Trinity United Methodist Church. He was also an usher and held other positions within the church. Mr. Jones retired as the owner and operator of J.T. Jones Printing, formerly Henry Hall Printing. He enjoyed going out to the family farm, riding his tractor, gardening and traveling.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Nioma M. Byers Jones, of Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Henry L. Jones; and two sisters: Maxim Crissman and Willibene Hiner.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc. Additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Greg Golden officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
