The Homer-Center School District will have state police at the school today along with additional armed district safety officers in light of tips concerning a threat against the school that was proven unfounded.
In a letter sent to district parents, the district said that they received several Safe to Say tips reporting a potential threat against the high school. State police were contacted and through the course of the investigation that included direct contact with the person that made the threat on social media, and screenshots of the social media posts sent to the school by concerned students, the results of that investigation showed the threat was unfounded.
High School Principal Jody Rainey would not release specific details on the threat except that it was on social media, and that it is safe for students to attend school today.
The letter also stated that the person that allegedly made the threat will not be in school today.
The district did commend those who reported the threats to the Safe to Say system and directly to the district’s administration so that the situation can be handled.
