The Homer-Center School board last night hired a new superintendent to replace outgoing Superintendent Dr. Charles Koren.
The board last night hired Curtis A. Whitesel as the new superintendent effective November 18th, pending submission of clearances. Whitesel comes from the Mt. Union School District where he was a senior high principal since 2005. He said that he saw a lot of similarities between Homer Center and Mt. Union.
Koren will remain with the district while the transition takes place. He did say that he would miss everything about Homer-Center as he has become a true “wildcat”.
It was also the last school board meeting for board member Fred Hayes, who is resigning his position to move back to Oklahoma. Board president Michael Bertig will take over for Hayes as the Homer-Center representative on the ARIN IU 28 board.
