For a third consecutive year, the Marion Center boys’ and girls’ cross country teams swept the team titles at the Heritage Conference championships Thursday at Marion Center.
The Stingers girls’ won a 10th straight championship, outdistancing second-place Penns Manor by 54 points. Senior Alyx Cornetto won the individual championship with a time of 20:13.6. The Stingers captured the top four places and seven of the top eight. Five of those seven girls were either freshmen or sophomores.
Senior Addaleia Beer of Purchase Line finished in fifth place.
The Marion Center boys finished ahead of United by 31 points. Stingers senior Hunter Armstrong won his third consecutive individual championship with a time of 16:32.5, a new meet record. The Stingers claimed three of the top four places.
United junior Gavin Cameron took second place.
