According to the Westmoreland Sports Network Facebook page, the Ligonier Valley school board voted unanimously tonight to enter the WPIAL in all sports beginning with the 2020-2021 school year, which means leaving the Heritage Conference after this school year.
Jody Rainey, the president of the Heritage Conference, commented on the news:
“(It) is one step of several that needed to take place before it is actually official. I’ve had some conversations with LV and knew this was going to be considered. I do expect to have a conversation with their principal tomorrow at some point to discuss exactly their plan and next steps.”
Ligonier Valley has been a member of the Heritage Conference since its inception in 2000.
