IUP’s “Into the Streets” event has been scheduled for this Saturday.
More than a hundred IUP students will be offering their services to five non-profit agencies and organizations for the biannual effort, which is part of a national program that encourages universities to be active in their local communities.
IUP’s Office of Service Learning organizes the local effort, which on Saturday will include work for Downtown Indiana, the Evergreen Conservancy, the Indiana Community Garden, the Indiana County Humane Society, and the Salvation Army.
All of that hard work will be followed by a picnic in Pratt Hall from 11 AM to 2 PM for volunteers and representatives of the agencies for whom they will be working.
IUP has been recognized by the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for exemplary service efforts. Students perform close to 150,000 hours of voluntary service during a typical academic year.
