Arthur Lee Dean, 85, of Indiana, passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, at Bethany Place.
A son of the late Herbert and Winifred Wheatley Dean, he was born Oct. 23, 1933, in Wellington, Ontario, Canada.
Prior to moving to Indiana, Mr. Dean taught at Mohawk College in Canada. An electrical engineer, he retired from FMC as manager of research and development. While at FMC, he obtained numerous patents. Mr. Dean was a member of Graystone Evangelical Presbyterian Church, where he was a longtime member of the church choir. He was also a member the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the world’s largest technical and professional organization for the advancement of technology. Mr. Dean was very devoted to his work and family. He enjoyed woodworking, and fixing and tinkering with electronics.
He is survived by four children: David A. Dean and wife Pamela, of Coatesville; Dennis J. Dean and wife Kathleen, of Indiana; Mark L. Dean and wife Johna, of Indiana; and Shari L. Manarelli and husband Robert, of Elderton; a brother, David Dean of Burlington, Ontario, Canada; seven grandchildren: Nathaniel, Brian, Monali, Zachery, Joshua, Camden and Kirstin; two great-grandchildren: Eleanor and Henry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Bernice Dean, on June 16, 2019; and a brother, Douglas Dean.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday at Graystone Evangelical Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Joseph Stroup officiating. Robinson-Lytle, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
