IUP held a ribbon cutting yesterday at the newly renovated Cook Honors College at Whitmyre Hall yesterday.
The mixed-use building across from the HUB on IUP’s campus underwent a 26-month, $4.6 million renovation project, which included a rebuilt entrance, upgraded living spaces on the second and third floors, six new seminar rooms, new individual study rooms and additional lounging areas.
The project started in the summer of 2016, and the majority of the work was completed in fall of 2018. The final work on the seminar, study and lounging areas was completed this fall.
IUP President Dr. Michael Driscoll talked about the importance of having the Cook Honors College on campus.
Also on hand for Friday’s ceremonies was former State House Majority Leader and current Vice President for First Commonwealth Bank Dave Reed, who was part of the first graduating class of the Cook Honors College 20 years ago.
