State police are investigating a case of theft from a motor vehicle where the thief stole a gun out of a car. Troopers say between 3:30 PM on September 27th and 4:30 PM on the 28th, an unknown person was able to get into the vehicle of a 56-year-old Homer City man that was parked on Syntron Drive and took a Smith and Wess .45 Shield Pistol. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call State Police in Indiana at 724-357-1960.
A Smicksburg woman is facing charges of shoplifting and retail theft after she tried to steal items from the White Township Walmart on September 24th. State police say that 49-year-old Laura Henry-King was caught by Walmart Loss Prevention Personnel under-ringing items at a self-checkout, including a can of spray paint, a bottle of laundry detergent, a container of tub cleaner, sewing needles, steel wool and sewing machine needles. Charges were filed in a non-traffic citation for a summary charge of Retail Theft, first offense.
State police have charged a man with theft for an incident in Conemaugh Township. Police say that multiple people tried to cash business checks from the Bee Brite Laundromat at a financial institution in Universal City, Texas. The first check was written for $3,958 and four subsequent checks were for $4680. The people who tried to cash the checks were described as a 28-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man.
