State police have charged a Derry woman with driving under the influence and on a bench warrant. State police reports that a welfare check was done by state police in Indiana on Friday at 12:06 PM at the Burrell Township Wal-Mart. During the incident it was determined that the driver, an un-named 26-year-old Derry woman, was under the influence of a controlled substance while operating a vehicle. She was taken into custody on an unrelated bench warrant, and placed in Indiana County Jail. Drug paraphernalia was also seen by troopers at the time of arrest.
An 18-year-old Saltsburg man has been charged with criminal mischief that caused over $1000 in damage. State police say on Friday, September 27th, the 18 year old was engaged in a verbal altercation with an unknown person and it turned physical when the suspect punched the victim’s car, causing damage to the rear driver‘s side panel. The suspect was under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance at the time.
