Indiana County Commissioner Mike Baker has announced that he will retire about two months before his term of office ends.
In a news release from Baker, he announced that he has accepted a position as the manager of North Fayette Township in Allegheny County, and he will retire at the end of business on November 6th, which is the day after election day. Baker will be present for both of October’s Commissioners meetings and while he will not keep his regular office hours, he will make sure that he is in the office every day to make sure that the business of county government runs as smooth as possible.
Baker said that he will be busy during his final days in office..
On top of his duties as Chairman of the Board of Elections, Baker said that he will continue to work on the 2020 county budget, and work on some initiatives like securing funding for the new Indiana County Conservation District Building project, finding funding for the Challenger Learning Center, hiring a new facilities director to take over for Bill Sink, working on a broadband project for Blue Spruce Park and other items.
